We have one of the finest competitive skating clubs in the area. Each year we are able to send skaters to the Regional and National competitions. Our coaching staff includes Stephanie Moore, April and John Jacobson, and Debbie Wright. All are certified by USA Roller Sports and are very efficient in their teaching capabilities. For more information, see the club website -> www.ashlandskateteam.org
If you’re interested in becoming part of our skating family, please ask to speak to our head coach, Stephanie Moore.
Medalist Program
Skaters must join the Artistic Club to participate at this level. These lessons are designed to advance the skills of the competitive skater. These lessons are also recommended for the recreational skater who has completed the Gold Medal Program.
Medalist Lesson: Saturdays from 12:30—1:30 pm
This class will be conducted in a clinic format. Each skater will participate in a one-hour lesson. The lesson will consist of 20 minutes of compulsory figures, 20 minutes of dance, and 20 minutes of freestyle instruction. The focus will be on single rotation jumps, toe assisted 1-1/2 rotation jumps, combination jumping and mastery of spin edges. The basics of dance skating will also be taught and turn figures will be emphasized.
Advanced Medalist Lesson: Saturdays from 12:30—1:30 pm
This class will be run at the same time and in the same format as the medalist lesson. The focus of this lesson will be on the axle jump and all other double rotation jumps. The spin focus will be on traveling spins and class A spins. Advanced figures and loops will be drilled and backwards dance techniques will be covered.
Fee
The fee for the Medalist Program is $10 per lesson plus a monthly club fee* (see coaches for more information). Club membership entitles you to take Private Lessons, have extra practice time, get more intense training, compete, take achievement tests and skate all public sessions. Our coaches teach both quad and inline skating.
